Twilight: New Collection

¡Por fin ha llegado el momento! Después de haber pasado los últimos meses trabajando en ella, ya está aquí la nueva colección de Après Ski: Twilight.
Queremos invitaros a descubrirla en persona en la presentación que tendrá lugar el próximo Jueves 16 de Mayo en nuestro Showroom de Barcelona y celebrar la ocasión con nosotros con cervezas por cortesía de Moritz.

Ten

Cuando empecé el packaging Dentro y Fuera no pensé que llegara tan rápido la número 10. Estas colaboraciones son una de las cosas que más disfruto de mi trabajo. Y como cada diez se suele celebrar haber llegado (poco a poco) hasta ese número, tenía que ser muy especial. Me hace muchísima ilusión esta colaboración de Antonio Ballester Moreno. Podéis conocer un poco más de su trabajo aquí.

When I started the "In and Out" packaging I didn't think it would reach number 10 so soon. These collaborations are one of the things that I enjoy the most about my job. And to mark the first ten issues of the box, I wanted to do something really special this time. I'm super excited about this new collaboration with Antonio Ballester Moreno. Si Antonio no fuera mi primo me gustaría y admiraría igualmente su trabajo. Los dos estamos muy interesados en los trabajos manuales y en la infancia. Eso es lo que nos une además de ser familia. Pasamos todos los veranos en Los Urrutias, un pequeño pueblo de Murcia. Días enteros en la playa, jugando, inventando, siendo muy libres. Siempre que hablo con mis amigos sobre la vocación les digo que es algo que se puede encontrar echando la vista atrás. Cuando uno es pequeño y tiene mucho tiempo libre, ahí es cuando uno disfrutaba de verdad, sin preocupaciones. Resulta que mi hermana y yo, junto con el resto de primos, pasábamos horas haciendo pulseras y todo tipo de manualidades que luego vendíamos en un pequeño puesto que montábamos en la terraza. Recuerdo a Antonio dibujando, pintando piedras con millones de colores. Él continuó cuando ya éramos adolescentes interesados en otras cosas. Todavía hay unos cubre ventanas muy bonitos con dibujo de ladrillos e insectos que hizo para la casa de la playa...

If Antonio wasn't my cousin I would love and admire his work all the same. We are both very interested in handwork and the concept of childhood. That's something that brings us together, aside from being family of course. We spent all of our summers in Los Urrutias, a tiny village in the spanish region of Murcia. Whole days spent on the beach, playing, creating and being really free. Whenever I discuss about vocations with my friends I always tell them it's something you can find by just looking back to your early years. When you are a kid, you have so much free time and that's when you can spend time doing what you enjoy most without a single care. As it turns out, my sister and I, along with our cousins, spent hours making bracelets and all kind of handicrafts that we later sold at a small stand that we put up on the terrace. I remember Antonio drawing, painting stones a million different colours. He kept going while we were teenagers and busy with other thoughts. There are still some really beautiful blinds covered in drawings of bricks and insects at the windows at the beach house...

 Estoy muy orgullosa de enseñaros esta décima caja, una explosión de pájaros y flores. Para celebrar la llegada de esta esperada Primavera. Après ski x Loreak Mendian

Teniamos muchas ganas de enseñaros un proyecto en el que hemos estado trabajando desde hace meses y por fin podemos compartirlo.

We were really looking forward to showing you a project that we have been working on for several months and finally we can share it with you.  

El año pasado nos contactaron desde la marca Loreak Mendian, confesaron que llevaban un tiempo siguiendo nuestras colecciones y nos propusieron una colaboración para lanzar una colección capsula de accesorios. Lucía viajó hasta sus oficinas en Irún para conocer de cerca la inspiración y los colores de la colección primavera-verano 2013 de Loreak Mendian. El resultado ha sido esta mini colección de tres collares y una pulsera en dos esquemas de color cada uno.

Last year we were approached by spanish brand Loreak Mendian, they admitted to have been following our colelctions for a while and suggested that we collaborate on a capsule accessories collecton. Our designer Lucía flew to their headquarters in Irún to get a feel of the colours and inspiration  for Loreak Mendian's spring/summer 2013 collection. the result is this this mini collection of three necklaces and a bracelet, each in two different colour schemes.

Las piezas con los materiales favoritos de Après ski: el latón esmaltado y la madera lacada a mano son hechas a mano, aúnando el carácter urbano de Loreak Mendian con la estética y técnicas de producción de Après ski.

La colección está ya a la venta en tiendas y en la tienda online de de Loreak Mendian. ¡Esperamos que os guste!

The pieces made of Après ski's favourite materials: enamel, golden brass and hand lacquered wood are all handcrafted, joining Loreak Mendian's urban character and Après ski's design aesthetic and production techniques.

The collection is already up for sale in shops and in the Loreak Mendian online shop. We hope you like it! 

Dentro y Fuera IX

Hace unos meses a través de Hazel Stark (una chica muy talentosa) vi unas piezas de cerámica que me encantaron y me entró curiosidad por saber quien las había hecho. Ella me contó que eran de William Edmonds, me gustó mucho su trabajo y ver que hacía tantas cosas en tan varias disciplinas. En su web lo primero que aparece es la fantástica frase "Try hard every day". Un poco después le conocí en clase de cerámica y él también se interesó por mi trabajo, sobre todo por el packaging. Así que cuando le invité a participar le apeteció bastante y a mi me hizo mucha ilusión.

A few months ago and through Hazel Stark (a very talented lady) I saw some ceramic pieces that I loved and was curious to know who had made them. She told me they were by William Edmonds, inmediatly I loved his work and seeing how he created so many things in a lot of different fields. On his website, the first thing you see is the amazing line "Try hard every day". Some time after that I met him at pottery class and he also became interested in my work, especially in the packaging. So when I invited him to take part in it he gladly accepted, and it made me happy.

Es la primera vez que un artista escribe un texto en una parte de la caja, me parece muy especial.

It's the first time that an artist writes a text on one of the boxes, so I believe it's extra special.

Desde que vine a vivir a Londres los días de sol los aprecio más. Esta caja con amarillo brillante me gusta especialmente por eso.

Ever since I moved to London I appreacite sunny days a lot more. I love this bright yellow bow particularly because of that.

Après ski en El Festivalet 2012

Otro año más se acercan las navidades y con ellas llega nuestra feria de creadores independientes favorita: El Festivalet.
La edición de este año tendrá lugar los próximos 15 y 16 de diciembre en el FAD (Plaça dels Àngels 5-6) y por supuesto no nos lo queríamos perder por nada. Hemos estado trabajando duro para poner tener en nuestro stand todos nuestros accesorios y las últimas novedades en colores de Cosmic Ice Creams. ¡Es vuestra oportunidad para comprar esos últimos regalos pendientes!

With christmas approaching one more year comes our favourite independent designer fair in town: El Festivalet.
This year's edition will be held on december 15th and 16th at FAD (Plaça dels Àngels 5-6) and of course we didn't want to miss it for anything. We've been working hard so you can find all of our accessories and the newest colours of Cosmic Ice Creams in our stand. It's your chance to get those last presents!

Este año, además de contar con los ya habituales productos hechos a mano de todos los participantes, también encontraréis una sección de material de crafting y delicatessen, incluyendo bebidas calentitas.

Dentro y Fuera VIII

Ya está aquí la nueva edición de las cajas "Dentro y Fuera". El octavo invitado a colaborar en nuestro packaging es David Gómez, fotógrafo e ilustrador afincado en Barcelona. Lo que más me gusta de David es su desbordante energía y buen humor, nos conocimos e inmediatamente hablamos de colaborar. A los dos nos pareció que sus coloridos estampados encajaban perfectamente con las piezas de la última colección.

The new edition of the "In and Out" boxes is here already. The eight guest to take part in our packaging collaboration is David Gómez, photographer and illustrator based in Barcelona. What I love most about David is his boundless energy and his excellent mood, we started collaborating from the first moment we met. We both thought his colourful patterns were a great match for the pieces in the last collection.

David combina la fotografia con la ilustración para crear coloridas composiciones con estampados y motivos geométricos. En esta ocasión ha cubierto la caja de uno de sus clásicos motivos en verde y tinta negra. Él nos comentó que cuando piensa en Après ski imagina minerales, así que ha dibujado un cuarzo, uno de los que más nos gusta.

David combines photography with illustration techniques to create colourful creations with patterns and geometric motifs. In this occasion he has covered the box with one of his trademark patterns in green and black ink. He mentioned that whenever he thinks of Après ski images of minerals fill his mind, so he has drawn one of our favourites, a quartz.

The Crafter Project

Inauguramos el curso escolar desvelando una de las colaboraciones en las qué hemos estado trabajando y que ya teníamos muchas ganas de enseñar.

We're strating the shcool year by unveiling on of the collaborations we've been working on lately that we were really looking forward to show you all.

Hace unos meses La Casita de Wendy nos invitó a participar en la nueva edición de su The Crafter Project y por supuesto accedimos encantadísimos. The Crafter Project se trata de una serie de colaboraciones con marcas y diseñadores locales que nació el año pasado con la voluntad de reivindicar el trabajo artesano, sostenible y creativo de las marcas independientes alejado de la producción masiva.

 A few months ago we were invited by La Castida de Wendy to take part in the new edition of their The Crafter Project and of course we were delighted to oblige. The Crafter Project is a series of collaborations with local brands and designers that started last year in order to promote creative, sustainable and handcrafted work of independent brands as opposed to mass production.

Après ski ha contribuido con este collar de cuentas con piezas de metal y de madera lacadas a mano que imitan las vetas del mármol.  Se trata de una edición limitada de sólo 5 piezas que se venderán en la tienda online de La Casita de Wendy. ¡Así que atentos a su blog si no os lo queréis perder!

Après ski has contributed with this necklace made from metallic beads and hand-lacquered wood pieces that mimic marble.  It comes in a limited edition of only 5 pieces that will be sold through La Casita de Wendy's online store. So make sure to keep an eye on their blog if you don't want to miss it!

Dentro y Fuera VII

Moteles, palmeras, volcanes, piñas, montañas, ovnis y aliens. Me gusta todo lo que Blanca Miró dibuja, son mis cosas favoritas a todo color. La séptima caja de Dentro y Fuera es obra de esta invitada tan especial, a quien conocí cuando trabajaba en Lydia Delgado. Vino con Miranda a ayudarme a construir un corazón de latón gigante y florido para un desfile, pasamos muchas horas en el suelo, recortando flores, hablando poco y escuchando música.

Motels, palm trees, volcanoes, pineapples, mountains, UFOs and aliens. I love everything that Blanca Miró draws, they are all my favourite things in full colour. The seventh "In and Out" box is the work of this very special guest that I met when I was working for Lydia Delgado. She came along with Miranda to help me build a giant brass metal flowery heart and we spent many hours on the floor, cutting flowers, talking little and listening to music. 

 

Me pareció que de esas manos pálidas podían salir imágenes con mucha fuerza, desde entonces le sigo la pista en su blog. Sus maquetas de moteles y vídeos tocando el ukelele son tan geniales como sus dibujos.

I thought that those pale hands could come up with really strong images and since then I've been following her on her blog. Her scale models of motels and videos playing the ukelele are just as great as her drawings.

Espero que os guste el nuevo packaging. ¡A mi me encanta!

Your Après ski

Tengo pendiente explicaros como y porque elegí a las modelos de las dos sesiones de fotos con las que he presentado las colecciones. Alba y Shan Shan  me parecieron muy especiales y pronto dedicaré una entrada a hablar de ellas.

Hoy os presento a la que más quiero, mi madre luciendo con mucho estilo su collar Colony en su última visita a Barcelona. Ella es la reina de los accesorios, siempre cuenta que aprovechaba cuando estaba enferma para que mi abuela la dejara jugar con la caja de alhajas. Así que viéndola no es de extrañar que yo acabara diseñando collares y mi hermana Julia pañuelos.

I've had in my mind for a while writing about how and why I chose the models for the photoshoots for the past two collections. Both Alba and Shan Shan seemed really special to me and soon I'll dedicate a whole entry to them.

Today I want to introduce to you all my most beloved mother, showing off with great style her Colony necklace in her last visit to Barcelona. She is the real queen of accessories and always tells us how when she was sick she always convinced my grandmother to let her play with her jewellery box. Seeing her, it's no surprise that I should have ended up designing necklaces and my sister Julia scarves.
 

En Après ski nos encanta conocer a todas las modelos que lucís nuestros accesorios en el día a día y los hacéis vuestros. Por eso Celia, una chica estupenda que lleva la comunicación de la marca, ha creado un tablón de corcho virtual en nuestra cuenta de Pinterest donde colgar las fotos de todas nuestras amigas y sus piezas Après ski.

At Après ski we love getting to know all of the models that wear our accessories in your day to day and make them your own. Thus with the help of Celia, the girl who's in charge of communication for the bran, we have created a virtual pin board in our Pinterest account where we can pin the photos of all of our friends and their Après ski pieces.

Pop-Up!

La Pop-Up Store de The Fifth Society que os anunciábamos hace unos días fue un éxito. Todo fue muy bien y nos lo pasamos genial entre ropa, zapatos, pañuelos y accesorios preciosos, brindando con todos los amigos que vinisteis a vernos al ritmo de nuestros DJs.
The Fifth Society Pop-Up Store that we announced a few days ago was such a big success. Everything went smoothly and we all had a great time among beutiful clothes, shoes, scarves and accessories, having a drink with all the friends that came to see us while our DJs played some great tunes.

Queremos daros las gracias a todos los que pudisteis estar allí y ayudasteis a que fuera un éxito. ¡Esperamos que lo pasarais tan bien como nosotros! Los que no pudisteis venir, tranquilos que esta ha sido solo la primera parada de The Fifth Society, en la web tenéis todas las imágenes y os iremos desvelando las ciudades que iremos a visitar en el futuro.
Big thanks to everyone who could be there and helped make it a success. We hope you had as much of a good time as we did! Those of you that wouldn't come don't worry, this has just been the first stop for The Fifth Society, we will be updating the website with the cities that we will be visiting in the future.

A Girl's Best Friends

Hace un tiempo nos contactaron desde la editorial Gestalten para aparecer en "A Girl's Best Friends" un libro que estaban preparando sobre diseño de joyas creativo. En él aparecen diseñadores y marcas de joyería de todo el mundo y entre los cuales los editores quisieron que estuviera Après ski. Nos ha hecho mucha ilusión la recibir nuestra copia del libro y hoy queremos compartirlo con vosotros.

A while ago we were approached by the lovely people from Gestalten editor to appear in "A Girl's Best Friends", a book they were working on about creative jewelry design. In it they feature designers and brands from around the world and the editors wanted Après ski to be present. We've been delighted to receive our copy of the book and we wanted to share it with you all today.

El libro contiene el trabajo de 98 diseñadores y estamos muy contentos de estar en tan grata compañía, si os interesa lo podéis encontrar aquí.

The 5th Society Pop-Up Store

¡Os queremos invitar a la inauguración de la Pop-Up Store de the 5th Society en Barcelona! The 5th Society es un proyecto colectivo que hemos formado entre cinco marcas de Barcelona para compartir nuestras creaciones, los miembros somos American Perez, Après ski, Deux Souliers, Colmillo de Morsa y Manila Barcelona.

We want to invite you to The 5th Society's Pop-Up Store in Barcelona! The 5th Society is a collective project created by five fashion brands from Barcelona to share our creations, the members are American Perez, Après ski, Deux Souliers, Colmillo de Morsa and Manila Barcelona. 

La Pop-Up Store se ubicará dentro del marco de la Barcelona 080 Fashion los próximos 13 y 14 de Julio en un local reconvertido del barrio de Gracia. La inauguración será el viernes 13 a partir de las 18:00 donde podréis acercaros a conocernos de cerca y pasar un rato agradable con buena música y bebidas por cortesía de Absolut y Moritz. ¡Os esperamos!

The Pop-Up Store will be held in a converted artist space in Gracia on the 13th and 14th of July, as a part of the events of Barcelona 080 Fashion. The grand opening will be on Friday 13th at 18:00 where you will be able to come and get a closer look at what we do and have a good time with music and complimentary drinks from Absolut and Moritz. Hope to see you there!

Dentro y Fuera VI

Estoy entusiasmada con esta sexta colaboración, Klas Ernflo, ilustrador y diseñador sueco es el nuevo invitado. Sigo su trabajo desde hace varios años pero le conozco desde hace poco, así que estoy muy contenta de que haya querido colaborar ilustrando la caja con este precioso dibujo de palmeras.

I'm very enthusiastic about this sixth collaboration, Klas Ernflo, a swedish illustrator and designer is our new guest. I've been following his work for some years but I only got to know him recently, so I'm really happy that he wanted to collaborate by illustrating the box with these gorgeous drawings of palm trees.

Podéis conocer todo su trabajo en su web, yo soy especialmente fan de sus minuciosos dibujos y su habilidad para realizar trabajos de diseño de una forma tan artística.

You can get acquainted with his work in his website, I am particularly a big fan of his detailed drawings and his ability to carry out design jobs in such an artistic way.
