LLevo un mes con el blog abandonado y pido disculpas por el espacio en blanco. He estado preparando bastantes cosas nuevas y esta vez las presentaré todas de golpe. Un poco de paciencia, pronto estará todo listo.

The blog has been abandoned for a month so I should apologize for the blank. I have been preparing many new things and this time I am going to present them all at once. Be patient, everything will be ready soon.

Yo he comprobado que las casas de verano son más hermosas en primavera. Cuando nada entorpece el paisaje y las rosas alardean en los jardines abandonados.

I have found out that summer houses are more beautiful during springtime. When nothing hinders the landscape and roses boast in the abandoned gardens.

Mi madrina, experta en color, había preparado unos ramos preciosos que iluminaban los rincones de una casa entumecida por el invierno.

My godmother, who is a color expert, had prepared some beautiful bouquets that lit the winter-numbed house corners.

Mitad nieve, mitad menta.

No es que me hayan hecho muchos retratos, pero este es sin duda mi favorito. El otro día Miju estaba haciendo retratos instantáneos y varios amigos fuimos entusiasmados. Quedaron muy divertidos y además con todos ellos hará un fanzine. Si os da un poco de envidia no tener uno, todavía tiene arreglo. Mañana miércoles volverá a retratar de 18 a 20:30 en Duduá.

I haven’t been portrayed many times, but this is definitely my favorite. The other day Miju was doing instant portraits and delighting several friends. The portraits turned out being very funny and a fanzine will be done with them. If you feel a little bit jealous of not having one, it still can be fixed. Tomorrow, on Wednesday morning, she will make portraits from 18 to 20:30 in Duduá.



También podéis ver la exposición y si os maravilla comprar un dibujo.Una chica, un yeti y un oso. Todos con grandes conos de helado sobrevolando picos nevados. Eh, ese es el mío!

Por lo visto Miju es una rápida devoradora de helados, estoy deseando quedar con ella y el Yeti para saborear uno. Yo soy lentísima y siempre termina chorreando el helado por la manga. Esa competición si que va a ser digna de retrato.

You can also see the exhibition and if you are amazed you can buy a drawing. A girl, a yeti and a bear. All with large ice cream cones flying over snowy peaks. Hey, this is mine!

Miju apparently is a quick ice cream eater, I can’t wait to meet her and the Yeti to enjoy one. I am extremely slow and the ice cream always ends up dripping on my sleeve. This competition will be really worthy of portrayal.

Al oscurecer.

Me enteré del terremoto en Japón cuando pasaba unos días en París. Por la noche salí a pasear sola mientras llovía. En los jardines que rodean el Sacré Coeur me llamaron la atención estas flores, esperanzadoras y resplandecientes en la oscuridad. Tuve ganas de tender la mano hacia allí.

Desde hace algunos meses tengo dos profesores japoneses, cada día aprendo de ellos un poco de paciencia, belleza, respeto y humildad. Se que llevarán jardines a las ciudades destruidas, nos darán una silenciosa lección.

I heard about the earthquake in Japan while I was spending a few days in Paris. I went out at night to walk alone in the rain. In the gardens surrounding the Sacré Coeur I was surprised by these shining in the dark hopeful flowers. I wanted to reach out there.

For several months I have had two Japanese teachers. With them, every day, I learn some patience, beauty, respect and humility. I know that they will take gardens to the destroyed cities, and give us a silent lesson.

Après ski en el Showroom del Ego

La semana pasada participé en el Showrooom del Ego de Cibeles por primera vez. La forma en la que empezó fue un augurio de lo bien que iría. Primero me asignaron una mesa al lado de la firma Deux Souliers, ya admiraba su trabajo antes de conocer quien había tras él. Ahora que además he pasado seis días con Nunu, la diseñadora de estos maravillosos zapatos, me declaro fan incondicional. Es una de las personas más agradables y talentosas que he conocido nunca.
La segunda sorpresa fue ver que que alguien del montaje se había dejado una escalera detrás de mi mesa. Tengo un poco de fijación con ese objeto y más de una vez había llevado una para decorar mi stand en Barcelona. Así que me quedé alucinada cuando comprobé que nadie reparó en ella y la pudimos utilizar para montar un pequeño bodegón cada día. ¡Menuda suerte!

Last week I attended the Cibeles Ego Showrooom for the first time. The way it started was a good portent of how well it would be. I was given a table next to the firm Deux Souliers, I already admired their work before knowing who was behind it. Now I've also spent six days with Nunu, the designer of these wonderful shoes. I declare myself an unconditional fan. It is one of the nicest and most talented people I've ever known.
The second surprise was that someone left a ladder behind my desk. I have got some sort of fixation with that object, and I had used ladders some times to decorate my booth at Barcelona. So I was freaked out when I saw that no one noticed about it and we could use it to build a small and different still life every day. How lucky!



Cada día ha sido positivo, he podido conocer en persona a gente increíble con quien hasta ahora solo había tenido contacto por mail como Marta de la Calzada, Marta y Bea del equipo de Telva, Bárbara Vidal (una de mis fotógrafas favoritas), Mer de Galletas de Ante y al resto de diseñadores que participaban en el Showroom. Pasamos mucho rato charlando con el Senyor Pablo, a-couple, Ruiz Galán ,Potipoti y La Aguja en el Dedo, todos muy divertidos. No me pude resistir y además me compré un jersey azul precioso de Elena Gallego y una pajarita de estampado geométrico de Jarabowtie.
Por fin conocí a los diseñadores del Colmillo de Morsa, de quien había oído hablar muchísimo. Tienen un trabajo precioso, podéis ver su desfile aquí. Me encantó también reencontrarme con Brianda, con quien estuvimos riéndonos un buen rato mientras hablábamos sobre los despistes.

Every day has been worthwhile, I've personally met with amazing people whom I only knew by mail, like Marta de la Calzada, Martha and Bea, from the Telva team, Barbara Vidal (one of my favorite photographers), Mer from Galletas de Ante, and other designers involved in the Showroom. We spent lots of time chatting with the Senyor Pablo, a-couple, Ruiz Galán, Potipoti and La Aguja en el Dedo, all of them are very fun. I could not resist and I bought a lovely blue jersey from Elena Gallego and a geometric pattern bow tie from Jarabowtie.
Finally I met the Colmillo de Morsa designers, who I had heard a lot. They have a wonderful job, you can see their fasion show here. I was delighted to meet Brianda once more, we were laughing a lot together as we talked about absentmindness.




Aprovechando la ocasión presenté un pequeño avance de una colección nueva. Collares con piezas de cerámica y formas geométricas en latón. Es solo una pequeña muestra, acabo de empezar las clases de cerámica y espero poder mostrar algo un poco más elaborado dentro de poco.

Seizing the opportunity I presented a short preview of a new collection. Necklaces with ceramic pieces and geometric brass shapes. It's just a small sample, I have just started pottery classes and I hope to show something a little more elaborate shortly.


Lo mejor de estos días ha sido poder tener contacto con las clientas Après ski y ver la gracia con la que llevaban los collares. No puedo estar más contenta con el perfil ¡ Todas muy estilosas! Ahora me arrepiento de no haber hecho más fotos, en esta podéis ver a la bellísima Carla Crombie, una de mis modelos preferidas, con el collar de Frankie the Emperor.

The best thing of these days has been to contact with Après Ski clients and see how gracefully the necklaces were worn by them. I can not be happier with the profile. All very stylish! Now I regret not having taken more photos. In this one you can see the beautiful Carla Crombie, one of my favorite models, with the Frankie the Emperor collar.




La nueva tarjeta de Après ski diseñada por Antonio Ladrillo fue todo un éxito, casi se me acaban en los tres primeros días. Hubo quien pensó que el bloque de tarjetas era un "lingote de oro"o una pitillera, así que dio lugar a anécdotas bastante divertidas.

El poco tiempo libre que me quedó aproveché para ir a la presentación de los jerseys de Miranda Makaroff para Lydia Delgado. El evento estuvo muy bien, la colección es fantástica y me quedé boquiabierta con las muñecas de madera que había pintado Miranda ¡Son preciosas!

The new Après Ski card designed by Antonio Ladrillo was a total success. I’ve almost run out of them in the first three days. Some people thought that the block of cards was a "gold ingot" or a cigarette case, and there were a lot of funny anecdotes.

The little free time I had I took the opportunity to go to the Miranda Makaroff’s jerseys presentation for Lydia Delgado. The event was great, the collection is fantastic and I was astonished at the wooden dolls Miranda had painted. They are beautiful!

Pude pasar también un ratito por Arco, y visitar en su galería a mi primo Antonio Ballester Moreno. Podéis leer esta entrevista de Vanidad para saber un poco más sobre su obra.
Javi y mi hermana Julia de SuTurno se encargaron de llevarnos a cenar a las mejores hamburgueserías de Madrid y encima vuelvo a casa con el pañuelo de huellas y un maravilloso dibujo original enmarcado. ¿Qué más se puede pedir?

I could also had a look at Arco fair, and visit my cousin Antonio Ballester Moreno and his gallery. In this interview in Vanity you can discover something more about his work.Javi and my sister Julia, from SuTurno, took us to have dinner to the best hamburger bars in Madrid, and on top of that I come back home with the prints scarf and a wonderful original framed drawing. What more could you ask for?

La joya de la corona

Cuando conocí a "chico ciencia" no sabía casi nada del Universo. Ahora espacio exterior es el camino al amor. Estas piezas las descubrí al poco de conocernos y las compré pensando en él. Así que siendo este collar en su honor dejo en sus manos la presentación.

When I met “science boy” I scarcely knew anything about the universe. Now the outer space is always a route to love. I discovered these pieces not long after we met and I was thinking on him when I bought them. So as this collar is in his honor, I’ll leave the presentation in his hands.

"Creo que Saturno es el planeta preferido por todos los niños cuando les hablan del sistema solar por primera vez en clase de Ciencias Naturales. O al menos, es el que más llama la atención por sus característicos anillos que lo distinguen del resto.

"I think Saturn is the children’s favourite planet when they are first told about the solar system in the Science lessons. Or at least it is the most striking, for its characteristic rings that set it apart from all the rest."

A medida que uno crece, y si se interesa por la astronomía, descubre aún cosas más fascinantes de este planeta, como que tiene 9 grandes lunas y otros 60 satélites más. Además, entiendes que los anillos que se ven a través del telescopio, no son más que millones de partículas orbitando el planeta, y que casi todo son bloques de hielo que reflejan la luz del sol y de ahí que se hagan visibles como anillos. ¿Cómo de maravillado tuvo que quedar Galileo Galilei la primera vez que contempló con sus propios ojos los anillos de Saturno?

As one grows up, and becomes interested in astronomy, more and more exciting things on this planet come up: for example, that it has 9 large moons and 60 satellites. In addition, one understands that the rings which are viewed through the telescope are the millions of particles which orbit around the planet, and that most of them are blocks of ice that reflect sunlight and hence become visible as rings. How amazed Galileo Galilei had to be the first time he beheld the rings of Saturn?

Hoy día, con las sondas espaciales que lo estudian, se ha llegado a saber aún más y más detalles que nos siguen sorprendiendo. Titán por ejemplo, su luna más grande, tiene componentes orgánicos, atmósfera activa y lagos de metano en estado líquido, toda una invitación a soñar con nuevas formas de vida...

O Encélado, otra de sus lunas de nombre romano, que se sabe ya es una inmensa bola de hielo que en su interior tiene actividad volcánica provocando erupciones de hielo. Son realmente nuevos mundos por descubrir...

Y siempre que pienso en esto me acuerdo de un texto que escribió el filósofo y astrónomo Séneca, que os copio aquí como una pequeña invitación para reflexionar.

“Llegará una época en la que una investigación diligente y prolongada sacará a la luz cosas que hoy están ocultas. La vida de una sola persona, aunque estuviera toda ella dedicada al cielo, sería insuficiente para investigar una materia tan vasta… Por lo tanto este conocimiento sólo se podrá desarrollar a lo largo de sucesivas edades. Llegará una época en la que nuestros descendientes se asombrarán de que ignoráramos cosas que para ellos son tan claras… Muchos son los descubirimientos reservados para las épocas futuras, cuando se haya borrado ya el recuerdo de nosotros. Nuestro universo sería una cosa muy limitada si no ofreciera a cada época algo que investigar… La naturaleza no revela sus misterios de una vez para siempre.”

Nowadays, thanks to the space probes, further details and continuing surprises are revealed. Titan, for example, its largest moon, has organic components, an active atmosphere and lakes of liquid methane, a perfect place to dream of new life forms...

Or Enceladus, another of its moons with a roman name, which is a huge ball of ice with volcanic activity in its interior producing ice eruptions. These are real new worlds to discover...

And whenever I think of this, I remember a text written by the philosopher and astronomer Seneca, which I copy here as a small invitation to reflect.

"The time will come when diligent research over long periods will bring to light things which now lie hidden. A single lifetime, even though entirely devoted to the sky, would not be enough for the investigation of so vast a subject... And so this knowledge will only be unfolded through long successive ages. There will come a time when our descendants will be amazed that we did not know the things that are so plain and simple to them... Many discoveries are reserved for ages still to come, when memory of us will be effaced. Our universe is a sorry little affair unless it has in it something for every age to investigate...Nature does not reveal her mysteries once and for all. "

Me encantan estas imágenes de Alexey Brodovitch. No me canso de mirarlas y siempre que las miro pienso en mi amiga. Y como ultimamente pienso mucho en mi amiga no paro de admirarlas. Porque con Gloria comparto la fascinación por las manos. Manos de mujer antigua y pálida, con uñas pintadas de rojo y dedos largos. A mi me gusta lo que ella es capaz de crear con las suyas, su sentido del humor y su capacidad para deslumbrar.
Disfruto en cada uno de sus collages, porque sabe mezclar maravillosamente lo dulce con lo amargo. Y es que haciendo memoria, nuestros encuentros acaban siendo así, tardes en las que por igual se puede dar el drama y la comedia.

I love these Alexey Brodovitch’s pictures. I never tire of looking at them and everytime I do I think on my friend. And as lately my friend comes very often to my mind, I can not stop admiring them. Because with Gloria I share the fascination with hands. Long-fingered old pale woman's hands with red painted nails. And I like what she is able to create with her hands, her sense of humor and her ability to dazzle.

I enjoy every one of her collages, because she beautifully knows how to mix sweet and sour. And looking back now, our meetings end up being something like that: evenings in which drama or comedy can equally take over at any time.

Hace meses me regaló este precioso collage-retrato por mi cumpleaños. He tardado mucho en enseñarlo. Gloria, ya sabes que yo siempre llegaba tarde a clase.

"Dentro y Fuera" es el nuevo packaging de Après Ski.
Una caja blanca de cerillas será intervenida cada vez por un artista invitado.
El primero es Antonio Ladrillo, pintor, ilustrador, diseñador y buen amigo.
Con él planeamos este proyecto, por eso y porque soy gran admiradora de su trabajo me hacía especial ilusión que ilustrara la número 1.
El resultado esta caja tan bonita con montaña y pinos.

"In and Out" is the new Après Ski packaging.
A white box of matches will be intervened every time by a different guest artist.
The first one is Antonio Ladrillo, painter, illustrator, designer and a good friend.
We have planned this project together, because of that and because I am a great admirer of his work, I was particularly thrilled about him illustrating the number 1.
The result is this pretty box with mountains and pines.

Fuera hace frío. ¡Ven al Festivalet!

Lo de que las avestruces esconden la cabeza bajo tierra es un mito. Solo la bajan al suelo cuando sienten peligro, para disimular y confundir a los depredadores. Son unos animales maravillosos e increíblemente rápidos.
Lo de que hay que quedarse en casa porque fuera hace frío también es un mito.
Así que no hay excusas, tenéis que venir a vernos al Festivalet. La mejor feria de productos hechos a mano. ¡Este año además amplía su selección de participantes!

That story about ostriches hiding their heads underground it's a myth. They only put it down when they feel in danger, in order to conceal themselves or to confuse their predators. They are wonderful and amazingly fast animals.
That story about staying at home because it's cold it's also a myth.

Gracias a la señorita Kilimanjaro.

Nadie sabe la falta que me hacía pasar este fin de semana en la montaña. Una de mis mejores amigas vive allí y nos invitó a su casa. Es la señorita Kilimanjaro, pues curiosamente cuando escribo su nombre en mi teléfono, éste lo corrige solo y la llama como a esta montaña africana. A mi me encanta, porque ella es así: grande en hermosura y muy muy sabia.

No one knows how much I needed to spend this weekend in the countryside. One of my best friends, which lives there, invited us to her house. She is señorita Kilimanjaro, because when I text her name in my mobile, it corrects it and calls her as the african mountain. I love it, because she is like that: beautifully big and extremely wise.

Hemos hecho todo lo que ha de tener un buen fin de semana après ski. Pasear por el campo, comer pan con queso, recoger y ordenar leña y tomar vino dulce alrededor del fuego...
Muchas personas me preguntan porqué esta obsesión por la Naturaleza. La respuesta es que es lo que echo en falta, lo que me gusta y no tengo cerca. Pero en la vida hay tiempo para todo, cuando viva en el campo dibujaré edificios y guateques. Haré collares de trenes y multitudes.

We've done everything required on a good après ski weekend. Go for a walk in the countryside, eat bread and cheese, pick up and pack some wood and have sweet wine by the fire... Many people ask me about this obsession with nature. I always answer that it's what I miss, it's what I like and I don't have close. But in life there is time for everything. When I'll live in the countryside I will draw buildings and parties. I'l make pendants about trains and crowds.

Ha sido pisar la ciudad y enfermar de gripe. Fiebre, malos sueños y hacer frente a ese
lado oscuro del que tan bien habla Twin Peaks. Pero esos dos días de felicidad no me los quita nadie. Ahora, ya recuperada, vuelven las ganas de trabajar y disfrutar del ritmo frenético de la ciudad.

¡Espero que vosotros hayáis pasado un feliz puente!

When I arrived to the city I immediately fell sick. Fever, nighthmares and confronting that dark side which Twin Peaks describes so well. But those two happy days are mine forever. Now that I'm recovered, I'm desiring to work again and enjoying the frenetic city rythm.

Decir Esperanza es despertar en la cama después de una noche de dulces sueños. El día lluvioso, las cortinas agitadas y la ventana mal cerrada. Curvarse hacia la luz como una flor frágil. Fuera el ruido del otoño. Colorearse la boca con serenidad, en un tono pálido y hermoso. Es levantarse y entrar en un jardín encantado.

Saying Esperanza is to wake up after a sweet dreams night. On a rainy day, with waving curtains and half- closed curtains. Bending towards the light like a fragile flower. Outside one can hear autumn noises. Quietly putting on a pale and beautiful lipstick. Waking up and coming into an enchanted garden.

La pared vacía de mi casa la llenan sus flores. Se dejan mecer alegremente por el viento.

My house empty walls are covered by her flowers. They happily sway in the wind.

Estoy de nuevo feliz por ver que mis collares se han colado en sus imágenes.
